Welcome to the 2010 Leyburn Motor Sprints. After 14 fabulous years of racing and country hospitality, it’s fitting to announce that the 2010 Sprints will be revitalised with a brand new bitumen ‘hotmix’ surface.  With thanks to Boral Asphalt and the Southern Downs Regional Council, the new improved surface will generate a fascinating array of premium vehicles and faster competition times than ever before.

Amongst the entries will be the spectacular pre-war Indy Car replicas, numerous high-horsepower open wheelers, a superb replica of the Dick Johnson ‘Rock’ Falcon, as well as the ever popular Mustangs, Monaros, GT Falcons (including the 900 horsepower NASCAR powered XY GT), Escorts, Cortinas, BMW’s, Alfa’s and Datsuns, plus many many more.

This year will see several current stars of Australian V8 Supercars Steve Johnson, Shane Van Gisbergen and Tim Slade as well as some legends of the Australian Touring Car Championships Dick Johnson and John French wandering around the paddock and most even turning some quick laps of the new track.  What a great photo opportunity!

Leyburn’s population of around 300 grows over this exciting weekend to more than 15,000 fans and competitors, who enjoy a true country atmosphere.

Competitors every year come from far and wide and represent an enormous diversity of motoring interests, united by the fun, camaraderie and love of grass-roots motorsport to be enjoyed at the Leyburn Sprints.

Amongst the action are markets, camping, car shows, race merchandise, kids entertainment, and food galore – it’s a great weekend out for the whole family.
